Express 50 Delivery Scooter / Love my new to me delivery. Variator help please!
« Last post by Altmangf on March 15, 2020, 06:39:39 PM »
Hi everyone,

I bought a neglected 2004 TGB delivery 50 from a college student who used it to get to class. I’ll be using this as a delivery machine in Boulder, Colorado. After replacing the battery, gear oil, tires, and rebuilding the brakes, I’ve got it zipping around town. It now has a Malossi 70cc big bore kit installed. The Malossi variator kit (pn 5111298) I bought does not fit. Does anyone know which is the correct Malossi variator for this scooter? Is it Part number 517128?

Thanks!

Outback 425 / New to TGB, having electrical issues
« Last post by turbowrenchhead on March 10, 2020, 12:27:29 PM »
Hello everyone. I recently picked up a non running 2007 Outback 425. I started getting into it and right away i'm lost. I found harry's link to a service manual and started to diagnose.
I found two electrical black boxes with a 4 wire connector for each one, near the carb on the drivers side. One has physical damage to it and other doesn't. The ignition fuse was missing. When I tried replacing the fuse the fuse blew. So I unplugged the two unknown boxes, replaced the fuse again and when I plugged the one in with no damage the fuse blew again. It doesn't blow with the damaged one plugged in.
So I ruled out that these are not the ignition relays or neutral relay. I can not find them anywhere on the schematic.

I wrote down the colors from these two electrical pieces and assigned each color its circuit number.
white/black # 39 coolant temp sensor
brown #12 turn signal
black #1 ground
black/yellow #10 coolant light
blue/yellow #6 alternator
blue/black #21 oil pressure sensor
brown/blue #4 main switch power

I just went and took a couple pics of it and now the fuse isn't blowing with both boxes plugged in.
I have a couple pics of the boxes but I can't figure out how to make the file size smaller.

Express 50 Delivery Scooter / Re: New purchase...

i found that  those  TGB people were people i didn't want to do any business with.
i had a customer that needed a seat and bucket.
they took my money and i didn't see the seat for over a year my customer was pissed.
good luck getting parts from them, they rarely had any when i needed them  .
when they get ready to make a order they would have
it shipped via air parcel and that is very costly and they will pass on the costs to you.

always use no ethanol  gas; oct rating 90
good luck

I ended up purchasing a 2018 direct from TGB in California. It started out as requesting a 2020 model, and they informed me just before they closed the deal that they only had 2018 bikes left.

I am looking for an owners/service manual for that year, as the engine seems different from the 07 version I had before.

Also, the manual I have states to use unleaded gas in the tank. My previous bike stated to just use premium, so do I use premium or any gas in this new bike?  My common sense seems to tell me to stick with premium.

Can you advise?

Key West / Re: Scooter died
« Last post by harry on January 13, 2020, 10:59:48 AM »
such a short time to turn black...  massively rich or lots of oil
in the carb or perhaps going in the intake ... usually the oil check valve is stuck

the white plug is troublesome as that could seize the motor .... usually a
massive air leak ... cracked rubber or loose clamps... bad fuel/air mix

Key West / Scooter died
« Last post by BrendanOsborn on January 12, 2020, 03:03:48 PM »
Hey all.  My mates scooter died while riding the other day.
He took it to a shop.  Guy said it was just the spark plug.
New one in and was running again.  Then it died again.  He said he checked the new plug and it was black.  So he put another new one in it and rode again.  This time it died  but the plug is white.  Any ideas what would be causing such a huge different in plug colour?
Is only got 3000ks on it.
Thanks all.

Key West / Performance clutch
« Last post by BrendanOsborn on January 09, 2020, 01:12:06 AM »
Hi.  I'm trying to find a performance clutch for my tgb 50.
There's heaps on aliexpress. They say they are for a gy6 engine.  They reckon they won't fit.  But the tgb has a 12mm shaft  with 22 teeth.  Same as the listing.  Does anyone know if they fit?
They're about 40 posted with a new bell.  The only thing i can find online is a malossi clutch for $120
Thanks in advance

Hey all.  Been looking online for a new clutch for the 101s.
There's some on ali express that are 22 teeth 12mm spline same as tgb. But they reckon they don't fit.  Anyone bought one and chucked it on.  Seems strange.
