scooter bogging down

Hi All,
I'm a new member and a proud owner of a used 2007 key west with a 70cc, performance exhaust, and some kinda alien looking air intake gizmo on it.  This scooter is a blast to cruse around on and I am in love with it, but the honeymoon hit a bumpy patch on the way to school one day.  I was riding on a slight incline when going about 30mph when I let off the throttle a bit, then when I went to give the scooter a bit of gas she started to bog down almost to the point of stalling.  Needless to say I was already running late and this was the last thing I needed.  So I let off the gas and she returned to a nice idle and when I went to give it gas again it did the same thing all over again.  After puttering for a couple of blocks I decided that I was going to cut the engine and push her the rest of the way to school.  After pushing for about two to three minutes I then decided to start it back up and see if she would get me the rest of the way.  Low and behold she roared to life and took me the last few blocks no problem, and got me back home later that day without any issues.  I took her out today on a short trip to the store without any problems or signs of issues.  So my question to the forum is this; what do you all think the problem was/is and how can I troubleshoot it?  BTW the gas in it is fresh and new, the scooter has about 2600 miles, and I have driven it about 100+ miles before this problem arose.
Thanks for reading,
Toadwest

hard to pinpoint~
worst case is that your soft seizing because your too lean
you might need more oil added to the gas  i do that on my 70cc 1 oz in the tank.
sometimes you can see tiny balls stuck to the spark plug electrode
with a magnifying glass

look for water in the fuel tank , lines, filter or fuel bowl

bad plug,

these small scooters really don't need a open filter in fact its hard to keep
the scooter tuned right with one  frankly i don't recommend them
on your street scooter they can suck rain into the carb too
