Hi Harry
Ended up taking it back to the company I bought it and they said the reason was a dead spark plug that had coked up and the plug cap had burnt. Said that this was causing the fuel from one cylinder to be pushed into the exhaust system without firing and so caused the heat in the tail pipe. Changed plugs and plug caps and told me to collect it. Seemed ok, but had another fire on the tray below the engine and seems like some fluid is coming from somewhere, all within an hour of collecting it from them, so I've sent it back and now don't really want the bike back. I am wondering if the plug issue was the truth about the original problem and they blowing smoke up my arse. Thanks for your earlier suggestions, it was probably closer to reality than what they suggested.
