2006 key west

im looking at buying a 2006 key west, the old owner says it needs a new battery and "stater"? im new to scooters and cant seem to find this anywhere, can someone help?

a stator will run around $100
i can get it for you if you want.
  they are not real hard to replace providing you
are able to do some unbolting, unplugging and replacing
and buttoning it back up.
