CDI upgrade Bullet RS50

Just bought a 2013 Bullet RS50 and asked the dealer to fit an unrestricted CDI unit. The standard CDI is a TM00248-1 and they fitted a TM00248-2. Does anyone know if the latter CDI is much of an upgrade?
I've just ordered a Technigas next R exhaust. What other mods would you suggest? From what I've read theres a restrictor in the variator, is this true? Will it cause any excessive wear if it is removed?
Cheers all.

no idea about your part numbers   in the US  they are different .
the stock cdi only allows about 8,000 rpm  .  the upgrade  will allow about 9-10,500rpm.
you really need some kind of a upgrade that will produce more rpms
like your pipe to take advantage of the upgraded cdi.

yes on stock TGB's there is a wedding ring in the variator  but that depends on the
the destination state or country   the scooter is  going to depending on the laws..
as for  excess wear, not really .  your cdi  maybe the worst potential issue
stock cranks don't like excessive  rpms  if you get up to 12,000 rpm the stock cranks have a  habit of flying apart . thats the other reason  the scooter is restricted.

the best way to get more speed from your scooter is to use a racing variator ,
sliders  and up gear.  none of that stuff changes the actual motors rpm .
they just make better use of what you have...

the US R50x has some variations
SHAFT, DRIVE 15T
GEAR, FINAL DRIVEN 35T
SHAFT COMP., IDLE  51T/10T

     later models
SHAFT, DRIVE  12T
GEAR, FINAL DRIVEN  41T
SHAFT COMP., IDLE  49T/11T

Thank you for the detailed reply.
At the moment wide open throttle on a flat road I'll be pushing 8500 rpm with a redline of 11000 rpm. It feels like the transmission (variator) is holding back any further speed.
So removing the so called 'wedding ring' in the variator is a free way of gaining extra kph/mph of top speed?
Is there any websites or illustrations showing an exploded view of the variator so I know exactly which part to remove. I'm assuming it's just a washer/spacer to limit the variators expansion.
Cheers

Cheers Oilyhans for your help.
All I can say is wow. Fitted the Technigas next R exhaust and removed the 'wedding ring' spacer and it has transformed my scooter. Engine has more torque and I've gained about 10 kph top speed. I can now cruise at 60 kph at about 80% throttle instead of WOT.
The nasty resonation I used to get through the transmission has now gone too.

Another question Harry,
I would rather upgrade to a performance carby rather than re-jetting the standard one, and while I am at it, I might as well fit a better variator.
What would you recommend? A local scooter shop in Oz sells Malossi carbs and variators. I want quality items with good instructions on fitment and set-up.
Will performance carbs suited to my engine be a direct bolt on in terms of linkages, throttle cable, etc?
Thanks again for your informative advice.
Or if you have a better modification plan please advise me.
Cheers

well ,i've never used any malossi gear so i can't tell you much

i've fitted standard mikuni carbs and  other TGB clutches & variators
with good luck , but had to remake a few carb cables  ,usually the inner cable is too
short and i put in a new inner.
