Outback 425 dies when I shift

I've been riding my outback for about a year now with very little issues. Now when I'm trying to shift from neutral into forward or reverse the quad dies. It also appears to be idling high. I'm going to clean the carb in the event that it's dirty but any suggestions if it ends of being something else (like the clutch or transmission).

It is most likely your gear sensor unit (part 925864). It sits behind the CVT (drain the oil and then pull the cover). That's what was causing that issue on mine. Good luck.
