Hi all, new to this forum, I love what I've read so far.
I've got a TGB 101s I'm not sure if this is known as a key west.
My mate has the same scooter.
We've added tecnigas exhuasts, upped the carby jet and both gone to 70cc kits. heavier clutch springs etc.
Next we are looking at performance gear sets.
My question is... are there bikes that share the same motor as the TGB 50cc? do these gear sets fit? we can only find POLINI gear sets and are quite expensive. But there are other cheap sets out there, which ones fit though. Any info would be great.
Brendan

from my understanding you can use a gear set from the
RX50 ....
check the parts manuals for the sizes used in the stock scooters
you will find links on the bottom of the forum home page.
the 101s became the keywest in 2004 in the US .
can't say what they did in other country's

the only difference between the 101 and the rx50 is the gearing ..

I had a spare engine sitting in the shed from a 101s
Just pulled the cover off and its got 35t and 10t gears.
They must have been changed out of an r50x?
The old owner said he had a good top speed of around 80kph

those are manuals for US market scooters ;perhaps they allow different gearing
for other countries.

btw;the stock carb is tiny like 15-16mm so a 18mm  is a big improvement over upjeting
the stock carb.

I tore down my scooter and its got the 41 teeth gear. Swapped over the gears and now can sit on 80kph. (70KPH before)
But now I've lost a little acceleration. Gonna upgrade the clutch and contra spring and hopefully get it back again.
Or... the clutch shaft was a different ratio. So I changed it too. Should I get the gear pressed off and onto the original idle shaft? then use my clutch shaft?
Thanks

never mind everyone, the other motor with the r50x gears had 5 gram rollers, my motor had the original 9 gram, swapped them and acceleration is back!

also try using sliders instead of rollers.

And i keep hearing mixed things about sizes.
That they are 17x12.3, but 17x12 work fine
And then even 13mm fit  too? Any light you could shed would be very appreciated

So 17x13mm fit in a tgb variator?
I'm just confirming.
Thanks
