I wasn't aware that I was obligated to buy from his store because he gave me advice.

"Obligated?"  Of course not.  But it's a matter of courtesy.  Anyone answering questions on this forum is doing so as a matter of courtesy.  When someone offers courtesy, it's appropriate to reciprocate, don't you think?

I believe that if you had read the rest of what I had to say, you would have seen that I agree.

"Great -- head panel meaning the panel that you would take off to change the headlight bulb, etc. ?"
Not sure of the year but it should be the same as mine. Its the panel that covers the "handle bars" where the speedometer is. The screw is right next to the throttle grip.

OK, so now that I took off the whole panel and took the throttle grip apart, now I realize that you meant the screw that's below the panel (like you said) and it was exposed the whole time, haha.

Problem is, I was watching the throttle, and turning the grip, and adjusting that screw from one extreme to the other, and I couldn't ever see any difference. I'd think that unscrewing it all the way would be the best for my problem, because then it's like the casing it travels through is longer and the cable stays the same length, so it's tighter... right?

It would be great if you had a pic of it just to make sure what screw you were talking about  but, I think you are talking about the cable adjustment ans that changes your idle. If you could take a pic that would help out a lot.

I did some more research (thanks youtube) and I think I got it now. I guess that adjustment is more for changing the play in the throttle, than how open the throttle is at its minimum. So now I got rid of the extra play, and I'm getting the full range from my throttle grip, and maybe the throttle could go farther but the limit is in how far the grip rotates.

Thanks!

stock setting on the throttle grip  is 1-2mm of free play before the
slide moves.  i personally try to remove any free play on my scooter.
there are 2 places you can adjust it ,both ends of the cable have barrel
or nut adjusters . sounds like you found the one by the grip
the other one is at the carb end.

I like it better without any free play, too.

Seems like tightening it up helped with a quicker start-up, as well... I think it idled too low before.

Thanks,
-Joe

I'm looking to mod up my 06 laser r5 wanted to do the HP variator  slide rollers and a jet. Not sure if there are different options with the parts. I know the slide rollers are different and i'm not sure on what ones I need. Over all I want it to be faster off the line and not to loose top end. Any help would be great.(I will be buying the parts from whidbeyislandmoped.com )

Ok so the weights are posted.
these are in the ball park, remember you can mix weights
eg; 3 --6.5gr & 3--4.5gr  and your scooter will think you have 5.5gr weights
6.5gr
http://whidbeyislandmoped.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=38
4.5gr
http://whidbeyislandmoped.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=11&products_id=216

there are more sizes but heavier  in the 7-9gr range

Thanks Harry. Do you know what the stock weight is and adding the 6.5's would I loose top end or will adding the jet help with that? Are there different performance variator options for the TGB  or do they make only one?

6.5 is about 2 grams lighter than stock ,
you shouldn't loose much if any on top but gain the low take off
yes the jet will give you more power
so far thats it  for a variator that  i know will work, someone
tried a turbokit -turbomax tgb  variator then returned it
and said it didn't work.
plus that style has a different 8- weight system that doesn't
use the standard rollers or sliders.
