Does anybody know what the size/weight of the stock roller weights is in a Sunset. I have seen reference (as far as size) to both 16x13 and 15x12. . .

what you need to do is
remove the varator and weigh & measure the weights..
i have a chart but the size is listed as 17x12  according to MRP-Speed
just remember that the varitor nut is reverse threads
FYI: I stock some DR.Pulley sliding weights in case you need some

Are the sliding weights proven to be much better than rollers?

I understand the concept of them but is there any downside to the sliding weights?

yes sliders  do give some advantages .   i use them myself.
the only draw back  that i have found is that they
sometimes (rarely),  in low speed all of a sudden they can
cause the scooter to feel like you just released a clutch lever
making the scooter lurch a bit  when you take off from a stop or slow roll.
but its nothing to be concerened with .

gennerally aftermarket variators have a different  configuration of the ramps
(where the rollers sit and travel)   allowing for a quicker,  more steep  travel of
the rollers to get to the high range(they get into faster/sooner) , also some variators
are a slight bit bigger in dia.  than stock ones.

Harry,?
Doesn't Cobra have a parts list for their scooters to get roller and belt sizes?  Also are the variator threads reversed only on the TBG's because I took my Yamaha Vino variator off to get the washer out and it was not reversed.

most part lists are just listed as numbers with no specs
for example the belt:  GE506RB01 V-BELT, DRIVE
however i think that is a Bando #

for rollers the manual says: 490045 ROLLER COMP., MOVABLE DRIVE FACE
i did weigh the rollers and they are 8g ea

yes the reverse nut is only on the TGB
