Hi,

I'm kinda new to this scooter topic, but nevertheless i tuned my scooter a little bit :
I bought a new exhaust for my 101r and my top speed has decreased a little bit from 75km/h to 60 or 65km/h.
Wich rollers do I need to install, heavier or lighter ones? And what are the stock roller weights and measurments of those variator rollers? My spark-plug is nice and brown(as the manual to read plugs said and it listed it as perfect), so do i have to rejet my carb or fine-tune my mix screw?
SO, the main question would be, how can i get my speed back:D?

Thank you for your awnsers ahead!
PS: my english is a bit bad or not-so-up-to-date cause I live in a non-English-speaking country

Hello again,

I changed my main jet from 'stock' to 68 and the problem seems to be gone(after a testrun).
Idle gear runs allright and the acceleration seems good too!
In case some of you are wondering about the thread measurment of the jet in MIKUNI 13MM carburetor, its M6!

ride safely

usually a pipe wants lower weight weights .
depends on your set up   3-5gr . as for the type
sliders are the ones i like and you can use 16x13 or 17x12

I'm sorry, but what do you mean about the setup? Do you know how heavy roller should I choose for the variator? Would the 5g's be okay?
Thanks:)

the set up would be the torque & clutch springs
and of course pipe or cylinder kit.

many pipe kits come with clutch springs or weights.

5gr  would be a start however if i was you i'd buy 2 sets
3gr & 5gr  ~  also if you mix 3 of each  you can have
18gr, 24gr & 30gr sets (3,4& 5gr sets)

I will try the 5g's first and give it a go. If its still too heavy, i will purchase the 3g's also.
Thank you, oilyhans for you opinions and quick replies!

Hi again, the 5g's were too light for my scooter, wouldnt accelerate s--t or didnt have any top-speed. So i put my old rollers back.

remember the setup ?    i asked if you
had  changed the springs?  what springs are there?
for the lighter weights to work the springs need to be 1500rpm.
not the stock springs.

and  just because  the 5gr didn't work~  it's not a one size fits all deal,
thats why i said a range ... you have to tune the variator the same as you
do the carb.

you are taking a stab at it when you are just buying one set of weights  ,
a real variator tuning kit comes with a wide range of weights and cost $100-200.
most likely you are not releasing in the power band created by the pipe.

Ok, sorry about the missunderstanding about the springs. The simple question would be- how can i make it a little faster?
If i would put my 5g's back and get those 1500rpm clutchsprings, then the top speed and acceleration will increase? Or is there a point if my scooter runs  70+kph(43.50mph)? The acceleration on higher speeds could be a little better, so as the top-speed, if possible.
Sorry about my dumb questions, but i hope you find some time to answer:).

as you may know
generally~
weights lighter than stock are for faster take off
heavier than stock are for higher speed.
that being said when you put a pipe on a lighter weight
will give you faster take off and higher top end  ( but just by 3 mph or so)

more top end can also be achieved with a LARGER variator and/or  one with
a different ramp (where the weights move).

replace both main(torque) & clutch springs at the same time...

refresh my memory what pipe did you put on??

that pipe is really just a bit better than stock and is not
a expansion pipe..which is your real problem you are not
'super charging' your cylinder like a expansion pipe does
so you need to just go about 2-3 grams higher with the weights
for more top end, and don't expect much, 3mph or so..

Thanks again Harry;)
