Hello All,

I'm new here, just bought a TGB Tapo and im unsure if this goes under a different name on the forums. I had a quick look but dont seem to be able to find much.

I'm interested in destricting my beast so it doesnt hit limiter at 65kmph.

I have ordered and exhaust and air filter but im also looking for new jets and any tricks and tips to get the most out of the 50cc power house.

Also would love a different seat and weight reduction if thats even possible. I'm located in brisbane, Australia if that helps at all?

cheers,
Jon

most the 50cc TGB motors are the same
with the r50x having a bit different gearing .

understand there are a few restriction's designed into  them
to keep down the hp &speed like the air box , cdi, variator , pipe, carb & jets

i sell the racing parts if you want em...

Hello Harry,

I have removed the restrictions in the intake and this has made the bike slower by 5kmph :(!

I have a exhaust on the way but interested in all other possible parts for making this bad boy do 80kmph.

Can someone please let me know how to completely district my Tapo? I have heard its the same as a r50x engine.wiring wise.

If you can pm me prices on all modification parts ill start shopping :)

the variator  ring  can come out with no harm to the motor.
just removing the airbox restrictor would cause the lean condition.

So I got a chance to play with my bike over the weekend.

went on the hunt for "variator  ring" and i found nothing!!! no ring at all had the bike in bits and did a lot of searching on youtube and google and couldn't find any pictures of a TGB and what the variator  ring looks like. There was no washers at all where its meant to be.

So i put it back together and went onto the next step the CDI brown wire. I found what appears to be the CDI, removed the brown wire from the terminal and the bike wouldn't start!!!

Connected it back up and the bike starts, I spend 2 hours and got no where :(

I need help!!! Someone please help me with pictures or locations on these items.

I have a exhaust coming and also need the jets. but since i took out 1 of 3 intake restrictions its now slower!

some things you need to know , older R50x's  mod easier than newer ones
some parts have to be replaced ,others just removed.

the ring is is brass colored  its in the variator  on the
big bushing between the 2 parts of the variator under the belt.
they are the same as on a vino or other 49cc scooters
if its not there someone removed it already.

removing the brown wire  works on about 50% of the R50x's
replacing the stock cdi with  a race or un resticted one
only works on 50%
i have a customer  that i've sent lots of mod parts to
1 ring racing cylinder kit , racing  crank and we've
tried  3  aftermarket cdi's  made for tgb R50x and they don't work right
or not at all.

however i'm working on a sunset  which has a 6 wire cdi (same as the R50x)
i put the genuine TGB unlimited cdi 5 wire on it and it works just fine
so what i'm saying is that the TGB's are  inconsistent   and  very hard to  mod.
R50x is the hardest of them all.

Thanks Harry.

The only brown wire i could find was connected to a six pin black little box up near the Oil tank.

I had a look around and was unable to see any other brown wires. I need a bigger jet and unrestricted CDI asap - have money waiting for these parts.  I'm going to do some research around my local area to see if they know of modifying these bikes

the little box is the CDI ..
this is what is looks like
https://whidbeyislandmoped.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=17&products_id=2&zenid=64592d2c3775770423fd93adb89c7a8c

i assume you have a stock carband everything else ?
if so start with a  set of 3 jets  62.5  65 67.5
https://whidbeyislandmoped.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=10&zenid=64592d2c3775770423fd93adb89c7a8c

otherwise you have to remove the carb and jets see if you can find any
markings on them to know size    stock should be 17.5 idle  60 main
