no won't hurt, but if its a solid speck of dirt
it will just stay in the jet or something  its always best to
really take the carb apart and clean it and blow out the passages
with compressed air.

i get a clean soda can and cut it or a small jar , spray some carb cleaner
it it and soak the jets
or you can get the carb dip but its pricy.

Is the cdi like the main brain box on a car? I can't get this idle right and at lower rpms it pulses/revs up and down if not moving.....like it getting gas and then not and then getting gas etc......what should I check???? I'm starting to hate this thing

cdi stands for capacitor discharge ignition.
all it does is tell the coil to discharge and send it to the plug.
it does have an 'advance'    but that is just the firing curve

what are the settings of your
air screw and idle screw?

basically you adjust the air screw to where the motor runs the best
start at 1 turn out  ( range 3/4 - 1 1/2 out)
then adjust the idle screw until the rear wheel just starts to turn
1700rpms  or so

Well hey I read another post of yours saying a faulty auto coke can cause poor idle or hard starts....it also showed how to test it.....so I took it out and hooked it to my jeep battery and yeah the needle length did get longer, so I was like OK that eliminates that has a problem and put it back together, or so I thought I did...I forgot to plug the little bigger back in....well as usual I stayed on the gas while I took it for a ride and when I got home I was gonna let it just stall out but it never did....later on that evening I found out the auto choke wasdisconnected so plugged it back in and it wwouldn't idle again....so yeah its staying unplugged.......with wanting this thing altogether how it should be, what would be the problem??? I'm still gonna want that new throtlle cable when I can afford also but what do u think with the choke needing to be unplugged is??? I'm so happy that this went from being bought non running to running OK now

Yeah about a minute after its first start for the day it wow fast because of coudse uld idle great with the auto choke unplugged....I don't know if its just me but its seems like its been starting a lot easier and I don't need to pull out the plug to put a lil gas on it. Took it on its first long test run of about 25 miles yesterday and had her at top speed for most of it and she purrs... I don't know how fast she goes because of course my speedo don't work either....I bought a piece of sh.....  but at least its coming along. Anyway yes auto choke not plugged in and it idles

Yeah just never mind that first sentence....my phone tweaked and I didn't catch it lol.  What was meant is after a minute of running on first start it will idle fine unplugged

ok sounds like your rich , thats what the choke does
at first then turns off (closes a passage.)
so try leaning out the mix and hooking up the choke
or not, you'll just foul a plug  or use a bit more fuel

omg its starting to act up again....float in carb sticks now....will do another cleaning and maybe let it soak in carb dip overnight...do you measure size of carb by measuring inside diameter of engine side of carb??? if so i do have a 17mm mikuni already....do you carry a rebuild kit or whatever its called to where i get the gasket and guts? have some money to spend and am moving 13 miles from work and this will be main transportation till winter and need running perfect... also need top end gasket kit and ring set maybe cause compression aint the best or i dont even know anymore

idk what float might be getting stuck on but its a guess. one day on a ride it would bog down to an idle and i would trying on the throttle and would want to kill it....after smacking the carb with my ratchet i was good to go, happened again later on that same ride???? makes me think float was stuck up and wasnt letting gas in or do you have another idea?

If my measuring of the carb is correct and I do have the 17mm will that work with the 42mm big bore kit sold at whidbey? I'm thinking buying that would guarantee better compression seeing that top end would be all new

carb is measured  in the intake side (airbox)
carb has a oval hole where you see the slide .

yeah i can get you anything. better than scrappy or same quality.

How the heck am I to get inside the carb to measure where the slide is? If I did goafter the 17mm if that is not what I have, would it work fine for a bbk? And it was actually a 44mm not 42mm I was looking at....how much would I be looking at at for bbk? How much for carb?

well scrappy only has 1 morini cylinder kit  of medium-average quality
i can get you 2-4 different kits, standard use to full race .
nor will you get the after the sale support  i offer.

try cutting a bit of a 3x5 file card 17mm wide and stick it in the oval part of the
intake or buy a set of inside calipers , like dividers .

carbs are about $100 give or take, kits from $170 -$290
