Hi All,
I have found a 2006 150 R9 for $550. It has 9k miles on it and does need a new carb and battery (it has been in storage for awhile, but everything else on it is, i've been promised, in fab condition). I live in Lake Havasu City, AZ, so it's pretty much always perfect scooter weather and a ton of residents drive buggy's, harleys, scooters and even golf carts around town. I'm a petite girl... 105 lbs maybe soaking wet and not much in the way of muscles, and I've driven a scooter exactly once when i was 16 in a gated community. The scooter topped out at about 15 mph. Having said all that, I'm flat broke and trapped without any transportation and this seems like the answer to a lot of prayers. What do y'all think?? Is it a good deal? A good scooter? Fun? And do you think a newbie rider can handle it ok? It's not too much for me, is it? Anything I should know, do, look out for, buy or make a deal breaker?
Basically, any thoughts and/or info would sure be welcomed! Im excited about this. I think it's gonna be a lot of fun. But i'm not a teenager... I'm 43 and I'm a bit nervous! Not to mention, I don't wanna make a bad choice. It's gonna take all i got to scrape the cash together, get it registered and insured (and of course, the repairs, which I'm told won't be more than about $200 if that for the new carb and battery... and another friend has told me he's worked on bikes and it probably only needs to be cleaned out, not replaced, so... again, thoughts?). In my current position, it's not money i can afford to gamble too heavily with.
Thanks!
MJ
