Upgrading the R50x

Whattup, just picked up an r50x.  Sweet scooter but pretty slow.  I got the MRP pipe coming along with Dr. Pulley sliders and a performance clutch.    Anyone have these mods and if so what kind of performance gain should I expect?  Parts coming in later this week.  Also what other parts would increase top speed besides a new cylinder (I need to stay at 50cc for legal reasons).  I know a performance variator would give better acceleration but I'm looking for more top end. Do I need a new "Kevlar" belt? Any input is welcome  Thanks

Yes I forgot to mention I also did purchase new jets for the pipe.  The guy selling the pipe was telling me that upjetting is not necessary unless a new cylinder kit is installed.  Is this true?.  Also, I was under the impression that the r50x doesn't have any CDI restriction therefore I am not sure what an Unlimited CDI is used for as an upgrade.  Any explanation would be appreciated.  Thanks.

can you put your scooter on a tach?
if it will only do 7,500 or so its restricted.
one special note about the R50X it has a bit more aggressive
gearing in the rear than the other 50cc tgb's

last guy that did a pipe up jetted to 70 i think . stock is #60
most other 50's have a 64 or better in their 13mm carbs
just check your plug and see what it says let that be the judge
to upjet or not.
but if you do give it a bit more  fuel & perhaps air  you will have
more power . he also added a high out put coil.

did you see this

When I got the scooter it would rev to over 9000 with the variator washer still in it.  Then when I removed the washer it would only rev to a little over 8000 with a 5mph gain of course.  If the dash tachometer is accurate then would I not have an unlimited CDI already since its over 7500rpm?

its my understanding they(TGB) all come limited
are you the first owner?
perhaps they cut a wire or replaced the cdi before you got it
either way  you have it  at 8k or more  ;)
i take it you get 8k rpm when you are on the road?
if you have it on the center stand and rev the motor
can you get more  than 8,000 rpm?
i would think so as the road will use power and rpm to move the scooter

Yes it definitely revs higher than 8000 more like 10000 when on the stand. So would that be an unlimited cdi then?

yes as said its un limited if it goes over 8,000rpm
did you look at the cdi? could you see a cut wire?

also the stock carb has a small main jet #60 that helps
to limit the power  most 2cycles have a 13mm with a #64

when de restricting other 2 cycles with 13mm carbs
many times we will put in a jet ABOUT 4 sizes bigger
like the vino has a #64 stock  we put in a #67.5 or a #70

DO REMEMBER the color of the plug is what you go by to
judge what main jet to use!!

Thanks for the advice........yeah i really was not sure which jet to buy but they included what was recommended......we'll see when the parts get here hopefully tomorrow or thursday.  I'm doing the work myself....bought an impact wrench and other goodies to hopefully make it go smoothly.  I read some tutorials online about how the remove the variator and clutch and it looks easy.  The pipe is straight forward enough.......the only thing i'm worried about is getting the jetting right.    Question- Will I need to mess with anything else besides the main jet (e.g. needle jet, pilot jet, idle mix etc) cuz the bike is running real good right now stock.

So I got the pipe installed and man does this thing cook now.  I'm doing 52 on the flat just with the pipe.  The stock rollers are 16x13 8.5g but i'm swapping them out for the Dr. Pulley sliders (8.5g) and a performance clutch and stiffer contra spring.  Will update after these mods.  I picked up a lot of bottom end torque with the mrp pipe as well as a good 15mph on the top end.  Highly recommend.

pipes are the most bang for your buck  ;)
you will get  better performance if you up jet . your  stock
carb has a 60 main jet . for comparison a stock 49cc vino has a 64 main
the last guy that bought that pipe got a  65 & 70 main jet. i think he
ended up using the 70
keep an eye on the plug color too. your good if it stays chocolate  brown
if it goes whitish  then up jet  .

what Dr. Pully Sliders do you have in your moped? and what do you think are the best ones? What Performance Clutch did you put in?

I havent got the sliders in yet because MRP screwed up my order, the clutch (107mm) as well was too big for the stock clutch bell.  I hope they send the right stuff this time around.  The sliders are 8.5g which is the stock weight. I asked about getting some 10g weights but they recommended against it as it would decrease bottom end a bunch.  But switching from rollers to sliders is supposed to increase bottom end by 20% as well as a little top end so i'm staying at 8.5.  I will post my results when it all gets put on.

ok thanks, so the (107mm) clutch will not work for the r50x? then you know what one will?

Stock roller weights are 16x13 8.5g   so those are the sliders I got.  If you go lighter you will lose top speed and they dont have heavier ones to my knowledge,  heavier ones will sacrifice low end so I'm going with the stock size since i'm supposed to get a 20% boost in the low end.
