reverse pressure fuelcock

My 2008 Key West (only 1500 miles) was bogging down and stalling out so I opened up the carb and did a thorough cleaning of the jets, bowl, etc.  When I did this the bubble fuel filter emptied, of course, and now that I have it all back together again the motor will not start because no fuel is flowing to the carb.  After many minutes of cranking the fuel filter remains bone dry and no fuel is flowing.  I assume the reverse pressure fuelcock is not allowing fuel to flow.  Now that I have everything back together, how do I reset the fuelcock so that fuel will flow and I can get back on the road?  My tank is very low, below quarter tank.  Will filling it up create enough outflow pressure ... that is all I can think of.

the fuel valve is opened by motor vacuum .
which comes from the carb via a hose .
1. a vacuum leak  or hole or crack in the hose
2. you didn't hook up the hose when rebuilding the carb
3 faulty shutoff ( however if everything worked
before your service ; most likely its operator error)

oilyhans, first of all I want to thank you for this excellent blog.  Dont think I have ever come across a blog that is so well organized and helpful.  This is awesome!

You are right, the fuelcock was working normally (I think) during those days when the scooter began bogging down.  I attributed the bogging to gunk in the carb, so I set to work on the carb and I assume the fuelcock was fine.  I marked all the hoses I disconnected from the carb, then reconnected them as marked so I am 99% sure I have done that properly.  I will go home this evening and check again for the 20th time ...  My fuelcock has 4 hoses running into it.  I did not disconnect anything from the fuelcock itself; I only disconnected from the top of the carb, which means only 2 connections are questionable.  The hose with the larger diameter is connected as the main fuel line, and the smaller diameter one provides vacuum I thought ...  guess all I can do is double check everything one more time

hey joeybear,
3 hose go to the carb
biggest is the fuel line
medium is the vacuum line
the tiny hose is the oil line

check your filter it might have some water
as well as the tank  heet or isoheet is for drying
gas tanks or fuel line,

also a new plug  and a clean air filter never hurts..
