Hi there I'm new to the forum I'm trying to help my mate fixing his r50 hopefully would save him being ripped off by garages!

The scooter won't start on button it has no crank at all, making no noise nothing. But it can be kicked start and running fine!

No light nothing shown on dash board when electric starting.

When engine runs dash board back on but turn signal won't work only making tick tick tick noise. (even when not signalling now!)

Checked the 2 fuses appear to be good and replaced anyway

Battery only few weeks old. 11.4 volts when engine not running and 11.4 when engine runs, so it's not charging.

What should I try next? I have multi meter not don't how to test CDI and regulator... Is it cheap to replace them anyway?

Cheers!

How much would u sell one of yours and where about r u?
Do I need a 5 pins one for direct plug and play?
otherwise would u give me a link of OilyHans's website?

welcome Fliu,
i am a TGB  dealer so i can get you most stock parts  including the atvs.
the unrestricted after market one i sell is about $40 less then stock.
the cool thing about it is that  it has a nifty LED  that blinks every time the cdi
sends the signal to the coil , so at least you know everything
is working up to there eg; if the led fires and the scooter
won't run;coil might be bad.

if it runs at all, however you can get it started(not w/button but only by kick) everything is
is working in the system. its something other than the cdi
it could be as simple as a bad or dirty switch at the brake lever
try holding in the other (right) one in and see if it starts.
but the no lights and no dash  usually is a fuse...but you replaced them
maybe check the connections?
could be the starting solenoid ,, see if you have juice when the start button is hit.

Many thanks harry, yes the scooter runs fine when kick started so does it mean it something other then CDI? It runs fine but indicators wont work and 2 stroke oil light is on all time (dash board would work tho), it also making constant tiny tick tick noise (was only when tempting indicator last week but now its constantly)

I'll try hold the right hand side brake and electric start.

So I will have to sort out the "no light no dash" before I can make the electric start works and test starting solenoid?

Thanks again!

if it runs when kicked the cdi is good!

sort the switch's out , do they work? you can also disconnect
switch's and use the continuity tester on the meter.
for the charging system you should have 12-14v when running...
check that the fuse wire( if not attached permanently to positive)
is attached.

the dash is most likely related to the other issues

does the head light come on when the scooter is running?
if so the charging system is working

when you turn on the key the tail lights should come on
and when you hit the brake the light should come on

good luck,
george

Hi George thanks so much for your advise.

Today I spent sometime looking in the wiring and found out the starting problem was cause by a bad connection on the battery. What a silly problem!

I charged the battery cleaned the connectors everything seems fine now!

The only thing I'm not sure is the voltage now reads around 12.5 both when the engine runs and off, is that normal?

Thanks again for the kind help george

run the scooter for a few days and check the battery level
it should be fine , as said  scooter would run bad or not at all
 if stator was bogus,
