Just bought a 2012 TGB Bullet RS, Love the bike but lacks top speed, Only tops out at 60 kph at 9200rpm. The bike wont rev past this even down hill. What can i do to fix this.I only want it to do 70.Must have some sort of rpm limiter on it ?Help Appreciated.

lots of guys have had good luck with this variator...
http://whidbeyislandmoped.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=29&products_id=181

here;s what a TGBforum user said to me after buying that variator

karl121 said,
hi i got the variator thanks a lot, it works great! now im doing about 50mph im  happy thanks you so much,karl121

what makes  the variator perform better is that it has ramps (the place the weights move(
is a faster(sooner incline ) ramp getting you in the higher speed sooner
and allowing for more top end.

I notice with this variator it says when this item is bought a spring is bought also. What is this for. Had the shim taken out of the variator and is a couple km faster but takes longer to get there revs at 8500, It Will do 70 kph down hill now.It is also faster up hill now. I think i might try and buy this new variator.!

yes that variator will give you some more top end and a bit  on the acceleration
the take off  will need to be improved  with springs and some new weights

Do you have any idea on what springs and weights are needed. I have found there is a restriction in the airbox also.

well you de restrict it, put in the TGB racing variator,
use some sliders , up jet  and you should
be doing mid to upper 40's with good acceleration .

if you removed the airbox baffle you should up jet
because you've leaned out the fuel mix.

Hi Steve,

I also have the 2012 TGB Bullet and am from NZ, once you have done your tuning etc can you post your results to this forum, I am thinking of doing the same with my Bullet. Would be great to know how you get on.

Also if you do decide to import the parts from the US let us know how that goes.

I've been looking at changing my exhaust to a performance exhaust but am not sure what the flow on affect will be, i.e. if I change the exhaust will I then need to do the CDI, Air intake or jets......

cheers

Macca

Hi Macca, I got the variator and some 9 gram sliders.I had them put in and did a test run,It lacked bottom end and the engine didnt have enough power  to go much past 65 km.If the engine had more power im sure it would do closeto the 75 to 80 kph.I am going to toy around with the slider  weights when i move back to Wellington(put some lighter ones in for better acceleration)I think when a pipe comes out for them i will buy one, then the variator would be awesome.A present i have just taken shim out of the variator, that has improved top speed to around 68kph(on the flat and no wind) but takes a while to get there from 60kph on.I dont want to muck around with cdi s.I want to keep the rpm to the scooters standard 9500 cut off.Hope they bring out a pipe soon!
