you have to understand that a motor like that
will only last a few hundred miles or even hours.
those are stage 7/10 scooters ~ full race
most guys go to stage 2 (pipe &  vari/weights ,springs ) or stage 3 (cylinder ,carb or upjet & clutch)

for a daily rider you want to go max stage 3 and don't mess with the air box

for  10hp or more, porting &adjusting squish,  thats how you get
but the scooter gets really finicky and eats parts

There is a rubber plug where the airbox connects to hose that you can pull out.Just take hose off, stick your finger in airbox and pull it out.I want my scooter to be very reliable so just pipe and jet change for me and maybe an unrestricted cdi when there is one available!

I have my jets and sliders, I havent got round to fitting yet.Was thinking on  clocking up the  km s to 4000 where the New Zealand warranty expires then fit the pipe.let us know how you go. When do you expect to have your jets/

Hi Steve,

Just finished today, quite happy with the results.

This is what I ended up installing:
Tecnigas exhaust PN: 0609186
70 Jet up from 60
Stock rollers.

The reason I stayed with the stock rollers was when I installed the sliders the bike would rev high and wouldn't have any speed. The sliders I ordered were the 3.4 and 6 gram and even with the heaviest 6 gram sliders it would rev out and have no top end speed. So put the old stock rollers back in and away it went.

Later down the track I might look at getting some heavier sliders however I have no idea what weight my stock rollers are.

a couple of things I wished I  had was another jet between 70 and 75 plus some heaver sliders but all up I am pretty happy with the final result.

The results:
Good top end, can now get to 70km no problem
holds a decent speed when climbing hills which is what I was after.

Hope you have some good results also.

Cheers
Macca

Sounds good Macca. Did you use your stock variator. Is the bottom end much better? And did you fit yourself? Did you remove the restrictor in the inlet tract?

Yep stock variator, Bottom end is ok, i would say it has lost a small bit of the initial Out of the block take off but mid range is much better.
Did all the work myself, i had most of the tools already the only tool i needed to buy was a rattle gun so i could get the nut off the variator.

Restrictors - yep got the all i think.

Cheers

when you change the  pipe  or cylinder you change the
rpms and the  power band moves up
so you will want to have the clutch and main spring
engaging at a higher rpm.
you would change from stock springs (800-1000rpm )
and go with a 1500 set.

even if you just change the variator or the weights you still
might want do the springs  for a snappier take off.

usually under $40 for both sets

Hey Macca, did you try any bigger jets before deciding on the 70 main jet?

he tried a 75 and a 70  but wishes he had a 72.5
don't know if he lowered the clip on the needle but it might
be a adjustment that will give him that extra bump he wants .

Hi Steve,

Jets - this was my testing, I started with the 75:
75 = was ok, engine spluttered a bit
80 = bike would hardly run, way to much fuel
70 = Bike ran really well.

The only thing I am checking now is to see if the spark plug is showing signs of a lean or rich fuel mixture. bit of a pain to do as you have to run the bike then take the plug out and examine the end.

Olly - does adjusting the fuel mixture screw on the carb affect the mixture when at 1/2 to full throttle or is it only for idle?
