2007 key west tgb not running well

I Bought my used tgb 2007 key west 49cc moped yesterday and I rode it all day yesterday no problem topping out at 45-47. Today I had been riding it for about 30 mins I had just got gas and drove for about a mile then it would not respond when I gave it gas. It would go when I gave it a little gas then it stopped going altogether and shut off. Started it back up immediately but as soon as i hit the throttle it spudderd and shut off again. I let it sit for 30 mins and started it back up again, worked fine, rode for one minute and it stopped moving when I gave it gas and died again. It starts up fine everytime. There is a bit of thin white smoke coming out but not much. I understand you need to mix the gas with the oil in 2 stroke engines. Should I do the same with this even though it has a seperate oil tank? I dunno if this is the problem or not. But does anyone know what this may be???

Could overfilling the gas tank cause this? Not sure if i did.

since you just got the scooter you might just for good measure
 replace the plug , clean the air filter , check the oil pump is working,
drain the fuel bowl or clean the carb.

 you want to make sure the 'stops running' thing  is not due to
low oil because that would be that your soft seizing the piston  or
 just about to blow the motor.

 to check the oil pump 
1.make sure there is oil in the reservoir
2. remove seat bucket
3.find pump and remove bleed screw start motor and see if there is oil
coming out.
 you can add 2-3 oz oil to the tank if you don't see oil from the bleed screw.
be advised the oil takes a long time to come out.
