Drive Belt & CLutch Replacement Ideas

Oilyhans,

I believe I need a new drive belt. When I ride, especially when there's a second person with me, I feel like somethings slipping as I take off. It then catches and when running everything is fine, just feel it on takeoffs. So I'm thinking it's the drive belt, but may be the clutch.

If I'm going to take it apart and replace stuff I might as well upgrade it at the same time. Most of my riding is around the city with lots of stop and go. So if I replace the belt, clutch, weights?, what would be my best options? Am I overlooking anything else I should consider while I have it apart.

Oh yea, it's a 2007 Laser R5.

thanks for your help

the clutch should be ok, takes a long time to wear down the shoes.
both the weights and belt wear faster
weights get the flat spots and do some weird things like popping back in
place  sorta like you popped a clutch ,
a worn belt is like you don't get top speed or some slipping

a new racing variator will have a more aggressive ( steeper ) ramps and
perhaps slightly larger diameter

the belt width is measured to check for wear limit  see the service manual
