Bought a rather neglected 101S with a rattle when it runs. I thinks its the CVT or the clutch, not the donk... Can anyone suggest where to start, like what covers to remove to have a looky? I've had a burgman apart before so am not scared of getting dirty and oily. It also seems to rev very high before the clutch (almost) engages. maybe it's just me not used to 2-strokes. Thanks, Jimbo

clunkers? donk end? are you in AU? or

to remove the clutch bell you just remove the nut , its a bit harder to
remove the  clutch itself you  need a air tool .

NOTE: be careful when removing the variator fan  you can break fins when
removing   also  the nut is left hand thread

you know there is a link to the service manuals at the bottom of the home page

Yes Oilyhans. Northern Rivers, NSW, Australia. Tks for guidance, will go out into toyroom and have a play soon... Just got back from a country ride with other old farts on our classics. My 1983 K100 is a beaut...

Hey Oily, its not the clutch or the CVT. I pulled the roller drum off and the clutch - all is good. BUT, starting the engine reveals really noisy like bearing noise but there's no clunking when I do it back and forth by hand (engine stopped). What normally goes, big end or mains? Looks like I need to split the case...  :(

you up by queensland ?  or south  a friend went there and had
some incredible pictures of the coastal area.

run the motor without cvt and kick gear at idle
and listen with a stethoscope or  a piece   of hose
around the bearing area & give the motor a tiny rev.
